Description

The use of transparent inks in combination with underbasing and halftoning can create an incredible variety of textures, finishes and visual colors. By having certain areas overlaying on paper color only, while other colors lay over a white underbase, it maximizes the use of 3 colors to create a wide variety of colors.

This kind of design forethought can be achieved with a deep knowledge of the screen printing process and its intended results. Without knowing how colors will shift on papers and how to use halftones to create those multiple layers, one would have a very hard time designing something like this. Taking the screen print process into consideration while creating your design can yield much better results.

From the Designer

"These posters are for an Adam West Batman art show at The Dart Gallery here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on April 22nd. I've been working with Jane MacDougald, (owner of the Dart Gallery) for the last couple of years to put together fun pop culture based art shows. This gallery will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic Batman series featuring Adam West and Burt Ward." - Eric Miller
