"There are four maps in the American Atlas series. We broke the country up into four sections by way of the US census. (Many people don't like where we drew the line, but hey don't shoot the messenger. Yes, Delaware is technically in the south). The maps were inspired by an oversized children's atlas that Briana had as a kid, where she used to pour through the book and try to find and count the little icons. Our maps are an homage to her childhood while also encouraging us to get out and see the rest of the country as adults. These prints were our first foray into simple mapmaking and it led the way for our more detailed print work." -Brainstorm
