"I've loved Mama's Sauce for ages. I actually started a little stationery business just out of college, and I used Mama's Sauce to print some of my own work. But that kind of fizzled when my husband Scott and I moved to Jacksonville and started Congaree and Penn."
We began as a rice farm in 2014, the same year we were married. We still grow rice, but we've also planted the world's largest (and youngest) Mayhaw orchard. It's an heirloom fruit tree that's most famous for producing really great jelly. If you're from Louisiana, you know what a Mayhaw is, but most people aren't familiar. Our goal is to make Mayhaws known, and to eventually flavor our own native hard cider with the Mayhaw fruit."
"So where's the Mayhaw jelly?" you ask. North Florida suffered a very late freeze this year, and our Mayhaw fruit yield was almost nonexistent. Total bummer, but luckily we work with other farms in our region to source other fruit for other delicious jellies. And of course Mama's Sauce will be printing our Mayhaw jelly labels for next year's harvest."
I'd been looking for reasons to hire Mama's Sauce again, and I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity again. Mama's Sauce is truly the best. And we like to brag that you're also "local." Yay for Florida made!" - Lindsay Meyer
